A Dothan man was killed Thursday afternoon when the vehicle he was riding in overturned after the driver lost control.

Michael Gene Flowers, who is 53, was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol media release.

He was a passenger in a car driven by 54-year-old William Oscar Foxworth of Chipley. They were traveling westbound on County Road 276 in Washington County when Foxworth left the road, overcorrected and crossed the center line.

The 2005 Ford Freestar then went off the road, rotated and overturned, the release said.

Foxworth received minor injuries, as did a second passenger, Kimberly Marie McCoy, a 31-year-old Cottondale woman.

The accident happened at about 5:15 p.m.

The accident is under investigation.
