Staff report

A Northwest Florida teenager was killed Saturday after being ejected during a single-vehicle crash.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, 19-year-old Ashleigh Breanna Varn of Grand Ridge was traveling east on Butler Road in Jackson County at the time of the 3:05 p.m. fatal rollover.

FHP reported in the release that Varn’s 2008 Nissan Altima left the road and entered into a ditch. As she steered the car back onto the roadway, Varn overcorrected and the Nissan traveled into a ditch on the opposite side of the road and began to overturn.

Varn was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the release.

FHP was assisted at the scene by Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County EMS and Fire Rescue.
