NICEVILLE — A store employee caught on camera stealing $380 from his employer’s safe told authorities he stole the money because he was “having hard times after a move.”

Officers responded to the John Sims Parkway business after the store manager said she observed the 24-year-old man on security footage stealing cash from the safe and concealing the money in his pants, according to an arrest report from the Niceville Police Department. The man then continued to work his shift.

When officers arrived and confronted the man, he stated he took the money out of the safe because he was “having hard times after a move.” He had $380 worth of $20 bills in his pocket.

The man was arrested and charged with larceny grand theft, a felony.
