FREEPORT, Fla— A staple in a small Walton County community was burglarized Tuesday by who authorities believe is a former employee of the business.

On the morning of November 27^th deputies responded to the Freeport Café, located on State Highway 20 East in reference to a burglary.

At roughly 2:53 AM, a suspect is observed entering through the front door on surveillance camera pulled from inside the business.  The suspect is described as short in height and was wearing a heavy, dark, hooded coat, blue jeans, and boots.  The hood of the coat was pulled up, hiding the suspect’s face. They also appeared to duck their head, as if to avoid the cameras. As the suspect got closer to the camera, it appears they were wearing gloves and carrying an unknown type of bag.

In addition, the suspect can be seen in the video walking directly to where the cash bag is hidden. After taking the bag, the suspect leaves through the front door, stopping outside to lock the door.

Based on the security video, the suspect appears to have used a key to enter and re-secure the door when they left.  The suspect knew exactly where the cash bag would be and didn’t take anything else.  The suspect appears to be female.
