Guided Plant Stroll, Monday, Dec. 7, 9:00 am to 11:00 am
Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and Master Gardener Bill Kuenstler for a guided plant stroll. Take a stroll through the park and the campground to explore the plants visible and to see what is in bloom. Visitors will learn about some of the plant species here at the park. Topics for the hike will vary based on the time of year and growing season. This program is on the third Monday of the month. Free with regular park admission.
Guided Bird Walks, Wed., Dec. 12, 8:15 am to 10:15 am
Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and the Choctawhatchee Audubon Society for a guided bird walk. Learn about the birds you are seeing in the park along the trails. Don’t have binoculars? There are a limited number of binoculars available at the park store that can be borrowed for the program. This program is free with regular park admission. Park programs are made possible by Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.
Park Ranger Program, Sunday, Dec.16, 9:00 am
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park Rangers invite visitors of all ages to come out on Sundays at 9am this winter. Explore various topics such as wildlife, history, or anything under the sun at pertaining to the Park. Meet in the Clubhouse! Free with regular park admission.
Topsail Talks: Coyotes, Friday, Dec. 21, 10:00 am
Come out to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for Topsail Talks! The topic is Coyotes presented by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. Topsail Talks is an educational discovery series where Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park invite presenters from outside the park to participate in on the third Friday of the month program at 10am. The program is free with regular park admission.
First Day Hike, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, 9am to 11am
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park invites you and your family to come out for a First Day Hike on January 1 with two hikes scheduled this year. Enjoy the first day of the New Year leisurely exploring the park with a Ranger to learn about the park and its wildlife. 9am – 11am: 4 mile hike, 2pm – 3:30pm: 1.5 mile hike. Participants attending at 9am will enjoy a longer four-mile round trip hike. Those coming at 2pm will enjoy an easier mile and a half walk. Both trails are relatively flat with roots, rock and dirt. To enjoy the First Day Hike to the fullest, wear weather appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes. Bring water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Please check in at the Ranger Station for starting location. Program is free with regular park admission. A Park Ranger will take you on a hike along the north side of the Turpentine Trail. Participants will learn about the park, its wildlife, and the turpentine industry that thrived here in the late 1800’s. Enter the park through the main gate and park staff will direct you to tram stop 2. This is a pet friendly event. Standard park admission fees apply, however there are no additional fees for programming. Park programs are made possible by Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.
