What was the inspiration behind Little’s Lunches and Kitchen 30A?

Little’s Lunches started as a community program in Bryan/College Station Texas in efforts to support children’s nutritional awareness and needs inspiring our tag line, “Investing in Child Nutrition.” The program partners with local schools and provides fresh lunches delivered each day, gives guidance on encouraging children to eat, and teaches kids cooking classes at the local schools.

Kids and staff loved the program and there became a quick demand for dinners and ways to incorporate healthy eating patterns at home. This inspired the expansion of the market kitchen offering ready-to-heat quality dinners, catering, and classes. The 30Avenue location is identical to the one currently operating in Texas with the addition of the Chef’s Table Dinners and adult classes.

This is your second location, why did you choose South Walton for this new venture?

We are both originally from South Walton and opened our Texas location after attending college in Austin. We were looking into opening a second location and are excited to bring our new concept and a better way of eating to our native town and community! South Walton is quickly growing with families, vacationers, and a mixture of lifestyles. Little’s Lunches and Kitchen 30A really has something for everyone.

Tell us a little about your story and connection to South Walton?

We (Owners Jennifer and Glenn Huggins) are both from Florida and native to Walton County. After moving to Austin for school and launching our professional careers, we started Little’s Lunches in 2019 in Bryan, Texas. Glenn possesses an executive chef title from Le Cordon Bleu Austin where he studied classical and French culinary. My (Jennifer’s) education and background is in child psychology and child development specifically working with schools and social services. During this time, we noticed a large need to parental support and questions pertaining to child nutrition. Partnering with the Texas Agricultural Commission and Recommendations for Children’s Eating Patterns, we began a program that followed their guidelines and offered parents support in encouraging children to eat, offered recipes, talking points, and more.

What is your favorite thing about your business? What is your favorite thing about the South Walton/30A area?

We love to partner with the local community and work together in offering a balanced way of eating. We have the pleasure of getting to work with families, local businesses, schools, and nonprofits and collaborate with great people every day. We love the South Walton community and all that is has to offer and are excited to have the opportunity to expand our business here and raise our three boys in the same place that we have so many childhood memories.
