It is with shattered hearts Walton County Fire Rescue announce the passing of Battalion Chief Brad Newsome.
Chief Newsome was diagnosed with clear renal cell carcinoma in December of 2021 and received medical treatment at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida for four months before returning home.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning surrounded by his loved ones.
Chief Newsome was an outstanding leader, the kind of person one was lucky to meet and blessed to call a friend. Brad was the epitome of passion and integrity, always holding himself and those around him to a higher standard. He made those around him better and lived by what he believed. He was a dedicated servant to his community and a devoted husband and father. Chief Newsome served faithfully in the fire service for 25 years. We ask that you keep the Newsome family in your thoughts during this difficult time and ask for prayers of comfort for those who were close to him.
