Around 40 Santa Rosa Beach homes evacuated after ruptured service line causes gas leak

10 AM GAS LEAK UPDATE:
The gas leak was a result of a ruptured 2-inch service line. The hazard was mitigated quickly by Okaloosa Gas and all evacuees have been allowed back into their homes.
SWFD firefighters and WCSO deputies have cleared the scene and turned it over to Okaloosa Gas to complete all necessary repairs.
Original information of the incident below:
Multiple SWFD crews are responding to a reported gas leak in the area of Magical Place Drive in Santa Rosa Beach/Dune Allen Beach.
We have no reports of injuries at this time, but the leak could be affecting multiple residences in the area. As a precaution, fire crews are evacuating approximately 40 homes in the immediate vicinity.
Okaloosa Gas is on scene and working to mitigate the issue, as well as Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Florida to assist in evacuating any further homes.
SWFD crews are en route with tents to provide shade and water for all occupants of the homes.
Please stay clear of the area and allow all responders room to work.
