 Grady Brown Park Grand Opening Ceremony The Walton County Board of County Commissioners will host a Grand Reopening Ceremony for Grady Brown Park on Monday, May 1, at 10 a.m. Visitors to the park will find a larger beach area, a new, extended retaining wall, an 80-foot lit flagpole and well-defined navigation for vessels, among other improvements. Walton High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps members will raise the new, 20-by-30-foot American flag to commemorate the reopening. Grady Brown Park is located on the north side of the Choctawhatchee Bay at the Clyde B. Wells Bridge, 20940 US Highway 331 S, Freeport. Foundation Pledges More Than $45,000 in Support for PAWS To kick off its third year of partnership with the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society, Bit-Wizards’ Be the Magic Foundation (BTMF) is doubling down on its support. On Saturday, April 29, BTMF presented PAWS Executive Director Ashley Degraaf a check for $20,000 and spent the afternoon volunteering on site. In addition to the cash donation and more than 40 hours of Wizard volunteer time, PAWS will receive $20,000 in hardware and skill-based services. PAWS recently launched the Kennels for Canines project to improve the lives of the pets in their care through a Kennel Rebuild Initiative. Various parts of the kennel are up for sponsorship. May Sales in Review · Emerald Coast

Sales were on the rise in the Destin and Miramar Beach real estate markets during May with 164 properties closed and 116 new contracts secured for homes and condos combined. On Okaloosa Island, there were no single family home sales however 16 condos sold while 10 were placed under contract. In Navarre Beach, sales also increased with 10 single family homes and condos combined closed and 10 properties placed under contract. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Beach Properties of Florida recorded nearly $84 million in sales volume across Walton and Okaloosa counties during May. A gulf front, seven bedroom home in Destin Pointe was the highest priced single family home to sell in Destin at $4.1 million while the highest priced property to close in Miramar Beach was a four bedroom residence in Burnt Pine in the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort at $4 million.  The highest priced condo sold in Destin was a harbor front, three bedroom residence in Grand Harbor for $3.1 million. A gulf view, three bedroom unit in Grand Dunes II was the highest priced condo to sell in Miramar Beach at $2.5 million. The highest priced condo to close on Okaloosa Island during April was a gulf front, four bedroom unit in Blue Condominium for $1.417 million. In Navarre Beach, the highest priced home to sell was a gulf front, five bedroom residence for $2 million while the highest priced condo to sell was a gulf front, three bedroom residence in Beach Colony Resort for $1.3 million....
