History Mystery – Miramar Beach Was Once Shoals, Florida

Destin historian Hank Klein tells the story of a town that was once where Miramar Beach, Florida, is located today. The area that we know as Miramar Beach was once known as Shoals. Today, no one seems to remember Shoals, not even the history buffs. Learn about the long-lost cemetery, as well as who actually named the area we know today as Miramar Beach. Hank Klein has long been interested in the history of Destin, Florida.

Gratitude and Regret: They Work Hand in Hand – Presentation

Tolliny Rankins is a certified Life Coach, consultant and adjunct Professor at Northwest Florida State College in the Florida Panhandle where she has taught life enrichment courses for greater personal development. She has also taught courses at the Center for Lifelong Learning at the University of West Florida, Ft. Walton Beach. She is the founder of “Visits with Rodney” a nonprofit organization that strengthens and uplifts spouses and children who have incarcerated loved ones. Tolliny is passionate about empowering others towards their destiny. She provides a great mixture of practicality, wisdom and humor in her presentations.

Joy of Art Group meets each Friday

Santa Rosa Beach, Walton County Coastal Branch Library hosts the Joy of Art Group each Friday from 9:00 am until noon. This group of inventive creators is at the beginning of an artistic journey learning from one another. On Fridays, they come together to provide a supportive atmosphere for artists of multiple genres to collaborate and broaden their horizons. The group enjoys “the process of producing art in a casual and supportive setting where there is no instruction, just an atmosphere of collegiality and sharing”. Like-minded individuals are invited to join in the meeting room of the Coastal Library and enjoy the freedom of creating as you follow your own whims and desires. All are welcome to participate at no expense and in whatever manner fits your schedule.
