Fatal Shooting Under Investigation in Mary Esther Staff Reports December 22, 2025 10:50 am Crime, Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa County In Brief: Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a person down late Saturday night An adult female was found deceased inside a Kanuha Drive residence The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances MARY ESTHER — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night at a residence on Kanuha Drive. Deputies were dispatched to the home shortly after 10 p.m. on December 20 after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a person down. Kanuha Drive is located off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, north of Mary Esther. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found an adult female deceased inside the residence. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin. OCSO investigators remained on scene late into the night as they worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No additional details about possible suspects or arrests have been released. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
