Design and Culture: It’s Getting Warm in Here
Whether you’re doing a remodel or building a new home, we’ve got you on the current trends – and it’s getting warm in here. Coastal trends will always have a touch of those cool tones but grey is making its way to the background as warm tones make it to the forefront of Coastal Design. This transition from greys to warm tones has been seen in hardware especially over the last few years as Honey Bronze, Satin Bronze, Champagne Bronze, and Brass hardware has become increasingly popular. The countertop industry is answering the call with new quartz colors utilizing those warm tones in exciting and fresh designs. Beckington, Everleigh, Berkshire Brass, Misterio Gold, Sonoma, and Shelbourne are a few of the designs released within the last year. Shelbourne is one of my favorites as it has a soft white background with a warm pattern and the texture is a beautiful matte finish, perfect for a coastal home. The current colors and stains of cabinetry are moving in a direction that accentuates these warm tones. A white monochromatic kitchen may cease to exist in a few years! As white will always be a strong cabinet color, dark colors and warm woods are making their way into the islands, shelving, and other areas where the white is becoming the accent. Dark Greys, Greens, and blues are beautiful with warm woods, warm hardware, and countertops with accents of warm tones, creating a cozy, coastal space.
