Breakfast with a Ranger on Veterans Day

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in celebrating Veterans Day on November 10, 2018 at 9:00a.m. with a free Breakfast with a Ranger. Along with the regular park related Q&A, the park will be sharing a teaser of its new program, “WWII, the Florida Panhandle and the Florida State Parks.”  Also, there is a special gift for those that have served in or are currently serving in the military.  Due to Hurricane Michael, the traditional festivities the park has this weekend will be back in 2019. Admission is free during the event.

Haz Mat Recycling and Tire Amnesty Day

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park as it hosts a Haz Mat Recycling and Waste Tire Amnesty collection on November 17, 2018 from 8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.  Make sure to be in the park by 11:45a.m. because the event closes promptly at 12:00p.m. Representatives from the Walton County Solid Waste and Recycling office will be on hand to help unload the following items from your car: Pesticides, Used Oil, Stale Gasoline, Solvents, Fertilizers, Paint, Paint Thinners, Paint Strippers, Batteries, Furniture Polish, Brake Fluid, Engine Degreasers, Anti-Freeze, Pool Chemicals, Insecticides and  Spot Removers.   No gas cylinders or explosives, please.  Due to hazardous nature of certain components in home computers old computer hardware including processors, monitors, keyboards, printers, scanners, etc will also be accepted. Waste tire amnesty will also be held at the same time. Walton county residents may bring up to 12 tires per residence.

Moonlight Paddle

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a Moonlight Paddle on November 21, 2018 from 4:30p.m. – 7:30p.m.  Experience Campbell Lake on a Ranger guided paddling tour.  Participants must be experienced canoers/kayakers over 12 yrs old. Program is $40 per person. Space is limited.  Advanced online registration is required and can be done at www.topsailparkfriends.org.   Program fee includes watercraft rental, PFD, paddle, park admission fee, glow sticks, hot chocolate, tram ride to Campbell Lake and a donation to the Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.  Program is weather dependent. In order to prevent the introduction of invasive species in to Campbell Lake, which is a rare Coastal Dune Lake, watercraft and gear from outside the park is not allowed.

Future moonlight paddles will be held December 21, 2018 4:30-7:30p.m., January 19, 2019 4:30-7:30p.m., February 18, 2019 5:00-8:00p.m. and March 20, 2019 5:00-8:00p.m.  Online registration opens the day after the paddle in the previous month.

Community Campfire December 1st

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a good ol’ community campfire on December 1, 2018 from 5:30p.m. – 7:30p.m.  There will be s’mores, music, hot chocolate, stories and lots of fun! Provisions provided.  Be sure to arrive before the gates close at 7pm.  Event is free with regular park admission.
