The Power and Peace of Music

Consider the times in your life when music affected you even when you might not have been aware. For instance, as a baby, can you imagine your parents singing a lullaby to help you fall asleep at night?  Do you recall the silly songs they sang to make you smile?  The funny toe counting song and the finger playing melodies that cause everyone in the room to giggle and smile along with you.

We remember the young children’s chorus in school or the church choir that amazed us with their multitude of voices singing the same song together. There was a power present there, and yet there was also a peace. How can it be! Two opposites attracting the Power of their music and the Peace in their feelings expressed.

The Power of music will help you dance, sing, worship, cry, sigh, and even sleep; with a peace of knowing you are not alone. Music will comfort your heart and provide a special moment when the song presents the right message at the right time. Remembering the first love song you and your special friend sang to each other could still have the same power today. I remember sharing a skit at a small group meeting with other couples, and my wife Lisa and I acted out the song entitled: “You’re Still the One” by Orleans.  The moves, smiles, and power of love was still there. And it was lots of fun.

Music changes the atmosphere. The connecting power and peace of music should not be overlooked.  Music has always brought people together for a cause or a celebration and much more. Music has the power to gather people in unity and harmony unlike any other force.  It doesn’t matter what style or genre you chose to listen to, the power and peace is still there.
