Dog Harmony Announces Hops for Hounds- A Dog Walk and Kids Fun Run February 17th!
Dog-Harmony is excited to announce the newest dog walk and fun run in South Walton. Hops for
Hounds, taking place February 17 at Grayton Beer Company, features a two-mile dog walk and
one-mile kids fun run as well as an array of activities for the whole family, including the four-legged members. All proceeds from this event will go to Dog-Harmony to help keep tails wagging in the community. What could be better than taking a walk with your pup on a beautiful Saturday and then enjoying a fun filled after party at Grayton Beer Company all for a good cause?
Hops for Hounds will start at 10 a.m. at Grayton Beer Company, make a pit stop at Idyll Hounds
Brewing Company and circle back for the after party with food, live music and draft beer. The cost is $30.00 for one human and one hound to participate in the Dog Walk and $20.00 per entry for the Kids’Fun Run. Each registered person will receive a t-shirt, wag bag, and those over 21 will get a draft beer in Grayton Beer Company’s Tap Room. Back Beach BBQ and Deep Dish Rescue will be onsite serving lunch and will donate a portion of proceeds to Dog-Harmony.
Dog-Harmony’s main goal is to build healthy relationships between humans and dogs to improve the lives of both and reduce the number of dogs placed in shelters. This event will aid in the funding of the local nonprofit’s many community programs, including humane education, spay/neuter services, microchipping clinics and, of course, adoption services. “We have been blown away by all the support we have already received for this event! We look forward to the community coming out with their hounds to support our mission!” Said Nancy Bown, Founder of Dog-Harmony. Nueter Commuter begins in March
The “Neuter Commuter,” which provides convenient, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats, will depart from Dog-Harmony the first Thursday of each month beginning in March.
Owners drop off their pets at Dog-Harmony, 3906 U.S. 98, Unit 34, Santa Rosa Beach. From there, the Neuter Commuter takes the animals to a Panama City clinic for surgeries, then returns them to Dog-Harmony for owners to pick up.
The Neuter Commuter and clinic are run by Operation Spay Bay, a nonprofit that has performed more than 20,000 spay/neuters.
Dog-Harmony transports the animals for free. Dog surgery costs are $60 for 49 pounds or less; $80 for 50 to 99 pounds, and $100 for over 100 pounds. Cat surgery costs are $35 for males, $45 for females.
Drop-off is at 5:30 a.m. Pickup times are arranged. Appointments must be made at least one week in advance.
