Did you know that you are a genius? A Harvard University study measured the creative modalities (the ability to take information, synthesize it and find a solution) of babies.. The study found that 99.5 percent of babies scored on the level of genius. Yet when measured at age five, only 20 percent of children still scored at the genius level. By age 20, the number dropped to just 2 percent. Somewhere along the way, we’ve forgotten who we really are…geniuses!
At the cellular level, you are the definition of genius: exceptionally intellectual with creative power and natural ability. That’s you and that’s me and here’s why: Every cell in your body is a thinking cell with the ability to communicate (intellectual). The way our cells communicate is through chemical and electrical signals. That’s why we get a “gut feeling” about something or feel the hair stand up on the back of our neck sensing danger of which we might not be consciously aware. Our cells continually reproduce (creative power). Every seven years or so, you are a whole new you! And, unless we are really mucking it up in there, our cells are designed to perform their jobs perfectly (natural ability).
From the top of your head to the tips of your toes you are 37.2 trillion cells worth of pure genius!
During development, cells come together to form tissues; tissues come together to form organs; and organs come together to form systems. (reproductive, immune, cardiovascular, circulatory, nervous etc.) If I asked you which system has the greatest impact on every other system, you might naturally suggest the immune system, since it is designed to protect us from harm. I would challenge you to consider, though, that the digestive system has more influence.
Why? Because every cell in every system relies on the nutrients extracted by your digestive system to function properly. As a result, other body systems are made to forgo energy to support digestion. Eating improperly can demand even more energy, leaving every other system at a deficit.
The first key to positive health is optimal nutrient absorption. We’ve been told, “You are what you eat.” But, it’s more accurate to say, “You are what you digest and ABSORB.” No matter what or how much you eat, if your body is not absorbing the nutrients from the food, you put yourself at risk.
The key to optimal nutrient absorption is efficient digestion. Your digestive system is a processing plant that breaks down whatever you put through it. However, to eat, process and eliminate is not the same as eating, processing, PROFITING and eliminating. To have food spoil in the digestive tract is to waste the food. It is actually worse since the spoiling food results in the production of toxins. These poisons must then be processed, demanding energy that could be put to better use by the immune system.
The key to efficient digestion: Eating REAL FOODS the RIGHT WAY. Combining fruit, vegetable, starch, protein and fat, along with a big glass of milk, at ANY meal is a digestive nightmare! Yet many of us were taught that this is balanced for every meal. Your body will work harder to process this combination of food, reap fewer benefits and suffer more negative side effects. Fortunately, it requires just a bit of rearranging to work with our perfectly designed system.
