WCSO INVESTIGATING SHOOTING IN DEFUNIAK SPRINGS; JUVENILE SUFFERS GUNSHOT WOUNDS

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla— Walton County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old injured Monday Night.

Just before 5 p.m. deputies were called to Josephene Street in DeFuniak Springs. When they arrived, they discovered a juvenile suffering from gunshot wounds to the legs.

After interviewing witnesses, it was determined he was shot in the thigh area of both legs while standing near a vehicle with numerous others standing near and sitting in the car. Although, it is unclear who fired the shots it does not appear to be self-inflicted.

The victim was transported to a local hospital. He is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on the statements provided and evidence gathered at the scene it appears the incident may have been accidental in nature.
