Green Thumb Garden Club Awards the Mercer Scholarship

For over four decades, the Green Thumb Garden Club has awarded the Mercer Scholarship to a student from Walton County.  The qualified student must be currently enrolled or have been accepted by a college, university, or technical school with a major in biology, botany, ecology, environmental studies, forestry, horticulture, landscape design or an acceptable related course.

The scholarship is funded through donations from generous GTGC members, fundraising events and the Walton County community. The award has grown to $3,000 In 2022.

The GTGC is proud to announce the Mercer Scholarship went to Ms. Nariyah Brewer, a graduate of South Walton High School.  Nariyah will attend Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University this fall, majoring in biology with a goal to become an educator in the field.
