Baked with Care, Served up Square!

Visitors and local residents alike have a new breakfast and lunch option available in Watercolor beginning February 1st — Scratch Biscuit Kitchen — in the WaterColor Town Center.

“We’re excited to bring a distinct flavor of our Southern coast to 30A while honoring a tradition as delicious as grandma’s homemade biscuits,” says Zack Coleman, Scratch Biscuit Kitchen’s general manager. “We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to what we hope becomes a ‘go-to’ breakfast and lunch spot in South Walton.”

Scratch Biscuit Kitchen officially opened its doors on Monday, Feb. 1, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce. As the name suggests, the mainstay of the restaurant is their freshly baked made-from-scratch biscuits and their exclusive original coffee blend served in a moderately priced, casual, family-friendly environment. The biscuits will be available to order individually or by the dozen, with a variety of house-made jams, jellies and gravies available.

We asked Mr. Coleman if everything was really “made from scratch.” He laughed and said “absolutely, including our homemade apple pie, baked fresh each morning. Our mission here is to provide a needed dining option in Watercolor while being faithful to St. Joe Hospitality’s southern roots,” he said.

In addition to light bakery items, the menu features a number of Southern favorites “between the biscuits,” as they say, including The Deep South, which comes with fried green tomatoes, country ham, pepper jelly, Thomasville Tomme & scratch Bacon. Another favorite is the Down Home Biscuit, which is made with brisket, hash brown casserole, sunny egg, swiss cheese and mater gravy.

The restaurant’s lighthearted lunch menu (available for dine-in or to-go via a designated carry-out window) will feature a selection of Benny-Style, open-faced biscuits with options including The Port St. Joe (which features oysters and a sunny egg), Cold Cured salmon, Nola’s Finest, Coastal Tuna and more!

Coffee lovers can join the “Mug Club” for a one-year membership fee of $35.99, to receive their own Scratch Biscuit Kitchen “Mug Club” branded YETI Rambler and $1 coffee with refills on every visit.

Scratch Biscuit Kitchen is now open from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. daily with counter, indoor and outdoor seating available. The carry-out window will open at 6:30 a.m. daily. 1777 E.
