The all-volunteer Friends of South Walton Sea Turtles will present another exciting lecture as part of their on-going “We Share The Beaches” educational series.  “We are very fortunate to have Chris Whittle, Park Services Specialist and local Beach Mouse expert, as our guest speaker”, says Laurie Reichenbach, Chair of the Volunteer Beach Ambassador program. The program is on the calendar for Wednesday, Jaanuary 16th, at 6:30 pm at the Coastal Branch Library (437 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach). “This cute little creature, the Choctawhatchee Beach Mouse, is one of our local neighbors and calls the sandy dunes along the Gulf Coast home”, Laurie said.  “Did you know they are an endangered species and currently under federal protection? There is so much more to learn and Chris has a great program lined up to educate us on their program to protect and study the Beach Mouse. This will be another great opportunity to add information to your Tool Box so mark your calendars now and join us for another great evening.” As always, these presentations are open to the public and free of charge so please invite your friends and neighbors. Laurie says the program is “kid friendly” and children will be certain to enjoy the presentation. *photo courtesy of Joel Sartore.
