First-ever Merry Little Christmas Concert to benefit the BGCEC a success

Just days before Christmas on Dec. 20, holiday tunes from local artists Chris Alvarado, Jessie Ritter and Jacob Mohr filled the night air on the lawn of the South Walton Boys & Girls Club as a crowd gathered for an intimate night of music to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast, or BGCEC.

“We’re thrilled with the support for this first-year event,” said Shervin Rassa of the BGCEC. “It was a wonderful evening, and I’m excited to see it grow in the future.”

Complete with a carefully curated raffle and silent auction as well as delicious food and cocktails, guests wrapped in fur blankets congregated around the stage in seats under a tent and twinkling lights to hear each musician perform a wintery-mix of their own holiday-inspired songs as well as the classics of the season.

Presented by AireServ, the Emerald Coast’s one-stop, 24/7 heating and air conditioning service provider, the Merry Little Christmas Concert raised funds to help the BGCEC continue its mission to create great futures for the children in our area and assist in the revitalization of programs for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County affected by Hurricane Michael. With eight clubs spanning from South Walton to Pensacola, the BGCEC works to promote and enhance the development of local boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence through its programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and citizenship. “Because of our generous sponsors, fundraising events like the Merry Little Christmas Concert are successful in helping us continue our mission,” said Rassa. “And the funds generated have a tremendous positive effect on our community.” The BGCEC has already begun planning the 2019 Merry Little Christmas Concert, and while details are still coming together for the event as well as other fundraisers set for the new year, businesses can learn about the upcoming sponsorship options in the 2019 Giving Opportunities Package, which can be found at www.emeraldcoastbgc.org.
