Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club Hosts Event to Drive Out Child Hunger

The 7th Annual Food For Thought Outreach Charity Golf Tournament is set for April 12th, 2018. Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club will serve as the tournament host for the fifth consecutive year. Novices and experts alike love this annual tournament. With a beautiful venue lauded as the only course in the area featuring two holes with Gulf views, plenty of food, drinks, and fun from local sponsors and donors, and all the proceeds from the event support their work fighting childhood hunger in Walton and Okaloosa counties – what could be better?

Check-in starts at 11:30am and will be followed by a 12:45pm shotgun start. The afternoon of golf will be followed by an Awards Reception and Happy Hour at the Vue on 30A presented by Escapology. Register your team and have your business sponsor a hole on the course by visiting fftfl.org/collections/7th-annual-charity-golf-tournament. Teams of four can sign up for $300, hole sponsorships are $250, or you can sign up for both for $400. “We love bringing this event back year after year,” says Tiffanie Nelson, Founder & Executive Director of Food For Thought Outreach. “All of our sponsors, donors, and golfers look forward to this tournament every spring. Working with Carter Murchison and his team at Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club and Vue on 30a is just unparalleled. As we continue to grow, fundraisers like this become even more integral to our fight against child hunger.” Food For Thought Outreach has grown from feeding 1,700 children each week last school year to feeding 2,500 children at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. In March, the local nonprofit took on another yet school growing to 2,900 students and is now up to 31 schools across both counties. Food For Thought has been serving Okaloosa and Walton Counties for over seven years by providing backpacks of healthy, kid-friendly food items to bridge the gap of missed meals over the weekend for students who receive free or reduced lunch during the week, as well as services over school holidays and breaks. Golfers can expect a great day of golf as well as special treats from tournament food and drink partners which include Pizza By The Sea, Tropical Smoothie, and Grayton Beer Company along with a Beverage Cart sponsored by Bay Baits. Raffle and silent auction items from local businesses will be available as well.
